Single Yellow Line Installed Outside Banbridge British Legion Following Successful Campaign

Carla Lockhart MP • October 9, 2024

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart is pleased that, following ongoing lobbying efforts by her and her Council colleagues, Paul Greenfield and Ian Wilson, the Department of Infrastructure (DFI) has successfully installed a single yellow line outside Banbridge British Legion. This move comes after long-standing parking issues in the area, which were causing disruption for Legion members and local residents.

The installation, which was recently completed by contractors, marks the end of a process that saw both the British Legion and local community working closely with Ms Lockhart to secure a solution.

Ms Lockhart expressed her gratitude to both the DFI and the British Legion for their patience and cooperation throughout the process.

"I am delighted to see the yellow line now in place outside the Banbridge British Legion. This will greatly ease the parking issues that have been raised by Legion members and residents alike. I want to thank the DFI for their swift action in bringing this to completion, and also extend my appreciation to the Legion and local residents for their patience while this matter was resolved," said Ms Lockhart.

The Banbridge British Legion has also welcomed the change, noting that the new parking restrictions have already improved access and reduced congestion in the area.

Ms Lockhart added, "This is a great example of what can be achieved when the community works together to find practical solutions to local problems. I am committed to continuing to represent the needs of our community and will work to ensure that further improvements are delivered across Upper Bann."
