𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗦

The Arts Council has designed this programme to increase the quality of music-making in the community by helping bands to replace worn-out instruments and purchase new instruments.

I will be hosting a bands funding session in conjunction with Ulster-Scots Community Network and Brownlow House on THURSDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER at 7:30pm.

Band representatives from all areas are welcome to attend!

As we know, bands contribute vast amounts to the local economy between purchasing of uniforms, bus hire, instrument purchases, venue rental and much more. Not forgetting the invaluable free tuition providing to thousands of individuals Province wide.

This small grant funding will go back into the local economy through local suppliers and bring benefits to the cultural development of our communities.

Sports Funding Seminar

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has invited local sporting clubs and organisations to attend an online Funding Workshop, scheduled for Monday 13th March at 7.30pm. The event will be hosted on Zoom, and will include expert advice from local funding consultant Richard Forsythe.

Carla Lockhart said:

“Across Upper Bann we have a wealth of sporting clubs and organisations who do us all proud in the various sports they are involved in. So many of these clubs are run entirely by volunteers, and it requires significant sums of money to keep the clubs running.

With this in mind, I have organised a funding workshop with a local sports funding consultant, Richard Forsythe. Richard has a depth of knowledge and experience in identifying funding opportunities, and also completing successful applications. I know the information Richard will share on Monday evening will be a huge benefit to all those in attendance.

You can register to attend by emailing my office carlalockhartmp.office@parliament.uk or via phone on 028 38310088. It would be fantastic to see a good representation from our local sporting community, and everyone is welcome to attend.”

Funding For Schools

Introduction

These are challenging times for our local schools. Budgets are strained, with many schools operating in a deficit year on year. The pressures on Principals, staff and Governors is unprecedented.

Yet as school leaders, and parents, we still want the best possible education and learning experience for our children and young people. We want the best facilities, best equipment and a wide range of resources and experiences.

To support this in the context of budgetary constraints, I am providing you with some funding options that could be applied for by your Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and in some instances, by your school. It is not an exhaustive list, but all have been selected based on schools having secured them previously.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you wish to discuss the process of application, or require assistance with forms, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours sincerely

Carla

Church Funding Options

Dear Church Leader,

As you MP i am delighted to provide you with this booklet, detailing some opportunities for you to support the work of the church through third party funding.

As i go around Upper Bann and meet various faith groups, I am greatly encouragedby the work being carried out in our community by local churches. While the primary purpose of any fellowship is to evangelise and preach the gospel, I am heartened to see the practical outworking of that message right across the community.

These activities all come with financial implications. We take great comfort and assurance in the promise that the Lord will provide, but we must always be working to see the fulfilment of that promise where we can. That is why i am making this publication available to local churches, as a signpost to funding opportunities that are open to faith groups.

I am always here to help to advise and support you through the application process or answer any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours sincerely

Carla

The Pressure Group Fund

Purpose of the Fund

Throughout the Foundation’s history we have been committed to addressing the challenges of peacebuilding, social justice and effective community development. We believe in the power of community activity to change Northern Ireland for the better.

The common theme linking all our grant programmes is that they provide individuals and groups with tools and support to make positive changes to their lives. We want to raise awareness of social justice issues on behalf of vulnerable communities.

The Pressure Group Fund has been established in recognition of the contribution groups and people in our society, who are working towards supporting social change, can make through direct civic action, lobbying and campaigning. It is one way in which the Foundation can be responsive to needs and issues facing communities.

What is a Pressure Group?

A pressure group is an organised group that does not hold candidates for election, but seeks to influence and change government policy or legislation. They are also described as 'interest groups', 'lobby groups' or 'protest groups'. Pressure groups are not necessarily formally constituted as organisations.

What Do They Do?

Pressure groups allow people the opportunity to participate in democracy by being involved in social change without necessarily joining a political party. Pressure groups may be viewed as essential to democracy because they allow the free expression of opinion and the opportunity to influence governments.
Examples of sectors where pressure groups may focus on could include:

Culture
Environment
Human rights
Health and wellbeing
Poverty and inequality
