Resurfacing of Old Manse Road in Banbridge Welcomed by Carla Lockhart MP

Carla Lockhart MP • October 9, 2024

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the long-awaited resurfacing of Old Manse Road in Banbridge, following her sustained lobbying efforts on behalf of local residents and road users. The improvement work is a significant step forward for the area, but Ms Lockhart emphasised that much more needs to be done across Upper Bann, particularly in rural areas where road conditions have deteriorated.

Commenting on the resurfacing, Ms Lockhart said:

"I am delighted to see the resurfacing of Old Manse Road completed. This has been a priority issue for local residents and road users who have raised concerns about its condition for some time.

I have been working with the Department for Infrastructure (DFI) to ensure this much-needed work was carried out, and it’s great to see the results."

While this resurfacing is a positive development, Ms Lockhart highlighted the pressing need for further road improvements across Upper Bann.

"This is just a drop in the ocean when it comes to the broader issue of road maintenance, particularly in rural areas. Many roads are still in desperate need of resurfacing, and I will continue to work with DFI and the local community to push for further improvements. Our rural communities rely heavily on a well-maintained road network, and ensuring these roads are up to standard remains a priority."
