MP highlights needs of local estates

Carla Lockhart MP • November 1, 2022

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has attended interagency meetings with representatives of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, ABC Council and PSNI in Edgarstown, Corcrain and Killicomaine aimed at highlight a range of issues facing the communities in those areas.

Speaking after the meetings, Carla said:

“On a regular basis I bring a range of agencies out into estates across Upper Bann to highlight the need for improvements, or to allow local residents to express concerns.

It was good to join with representatives of Edgarstown Residents Association and Corcrain Redmnaville Community Partnership in hosting walkabouts in these areas. These community groups do an excellent job in championing the needs of their areas, with a band of volunteers who also carry out a range of work in their areas to make life better for residents.

We need this volunteering spirit to be supported by local Council, and also by other Government agencies. That is why I brought representatives of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and PSNI, along with Supporting Communities reps, to these areas to discuss improvements and to identify challenges being faced that need addressed.

These walkabouts will continue in the weeks ahead in other areas. However if you have an issue you would wish to see addressed in your area, please do get in touch and I will endeavour to bring the right people together to make change happen.”
