MP shows support for Help For Heroes

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has joined with MPs from across the UK in marking 15 years of Help For Heroes, the charity which supports veterans and their families in their homes and communities across the UK.

Speaking in Westminster, the DUP representatives said:

“Help For Heroes is a remarkable organisation, offering invaluable support to veterans and their families.

In their 15 year existence, Help For Heroes has helped over 27,000 veterans to live better lives after their service has ended. Sadly there is a great need amongst our ex-servicemen and women after they leave the Armed Forces, and it falls on charities to provide support that sadly is not provided by the Government to the levels needed.

The range of services provided by Help For Heroes has been transformational for many, not least in terms of physical and mental health. It was deeply moving to hear some of the stories of those who have turned their lives around following support from Help For Heroes. It truly is a charity not just improving lives, but actually saving lives.

I know there is a great level of support in Upper Bann for our veterans - for all those who have served, including those who served here in Northern Ireland to defend it against the evils of terrorism. I would encourage ongoing support for Help For Heroes.”
