Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the reopening of Oggies Dessert Bar in Banbridge following a significant refurbishment, praising the business as a key contributor to the local economy.

Mrs Lockhart visited the premises to see the newly upgraded dessert bar and meet with owner Darren and his team.

Speaking after the visit, she said:

“It was a pleasure to call into Oggies Dessert Bar and see first-hand the fantastic refurbishment that has taken place. This is a brilliant local business and a real asset to Banbridge.

Darren’s contribution to our local economy is significant, with successful ventures not only in Banbridge but also in Portadown. Businesses like Oggies and Herron’s Country Fried Chicken are exactly the kind of enterprises that sustain our town centres, create jobs and support local suppliers.”

Mrs Lockhart also highlighted the business’s continued commitment to quality and local produce.

“It is especially encouraging to see the focus on local produce, alongside freshly made gelato now being produced on site. This kind of innovation and investment is exactly what keeps our high streets vibrant and attractive.”

I was delighted to catch up with Darren and his mum, who is clearly still very much at the heart of the business. I wish Darren and the entire team every success in this exciting new chapter and have no doubt they will continue to enjoy strong local support.”
