Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed a significant increase in donations from Banbridge as part of this year’s Big Bucket Collection in support of Evora Hospice.

Newly confirmed figures show that an impressive £29,135 was raised across Northern Ireland, with Banbridge contributing £3,780.97, a notable increase on last year’s total of £1,705.70.

Mrs Lockhart, who took part in this year’s collection, praised the generosity of the local community.

Speaking on the success, she said:

“The generosity shown by the people of Banbridge once again is nothing short of remarkable. To see such a strong increase in donations this year, particularly given the ongoing pressures on household budgets, speaks volumes about the compassion and community spirit that exists locally.

Evora Hospice provides vital care and support to individuals and families at some of the most difficult times in their lives. The work they do is invaluable, and it is only made possible through the continued generosity of the public.

I was delighted to play a small part in this year’s collection, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who gave so generously.”

Mrs Lockhart also noted the wider success of the campaign across Northern Ireland and paid tribute to volunteers.

She added:

“The overall total raised across Northern Ireland is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work of volunteers and the kindness of so many people. Every pound raised will make a real difference.”
