Carla Lockhart Swears into Parliament After Re-election

Carla Lockhart has been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Upper Bann and has officially been sworn in, taking an oath of allegiance to His Majesty, King Charles III and his successors, at Westminster. 

In a heartfelt message to her constituents, Lockhart expressed her deep gratitude and commitment to serving the community. "What an honour it is to serve," said Lockhart. "Thank you again for trusting in me to represent you at Westminster."

Reflecting on her experiences in Parliament, Lockhart shared, "I rarely walk into Westminster without it catching my breath. It does have a wow factor given its rich history, its politics, and it being the heartbeat of UK democracy. I never have and never will take this position for granted. You, the people, have put me here and I am forever thankful." 


The MP added “I have been blown away with the amount of messages, WhatsApp’s, telephone calls, Facebook messages, Twitter messages I have received from the election. I am working my way through them so please bear with me. Also all of the cases and issues picked up on the doors, at the polling station and since the team and I are working through them.”


Carla emphasised her availability and dedication to her constituents, encouraging them to reach out with any concerns or issues. She expressed her vision for the future, stating, "Together we can make Upper Bann, and indeed our wee country, an even better place to live, work and do business. I will continue to speak up for you, work for you and deliver for you." Commenting on her priorities for the upcoming Westminster term, Lockhart commented, “As I set out before election day I will be promoting Northern Ireland’s integral place within the United Kingdom, fighting for robust protection for farmers, lobbying for more funding to enhance child-care support for our hard-working families, and raising a solutions-based approach to health and social care across Northern Ireland.”


Lockhart's re-election and increase in vote-share is a testament to the trust and confidence the people of Upper Bann have in her leadership. She remains steadfast in her commitment to advocating for her constituents and ensuring their voices are heard at the highest levels of government.
