The event, which took place in the city of Glasgow, saw thousands of participants and spectators gather to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.
"Friday evening, after the election count, we travelled to the city of Glasgow to take part in the Glasgow Orange County 334th Battle of the Boyne Celebrations. I had the honour of speaking on the platform and parading with the County Grand Lodge of Glasgow. What a privilege," Lockhart remarked.
The streets of Glasgow were alive with a festive atmosphere as bandsmen and women, Orange brethren and sisters, and enthusiastic spectators came together to parade the King’s High Way. The Scottish certainly know how to celebrate our shared British culture and heritage, and the event was a testament to their enduring spirit.
Lockhart extended her heartfelt gratitude to Bro Jamie Crawford, the Right Worshipful Deputy County Grand Master of the County Grand Orange Lodge of Glasgow, for his invitation and exceptional hospitality. In her speech, the newly re-elected MP for Upper Bann, emphasised her unwavering support for the Union and welcomed the recent political developments in Scotland. "I didn’t hold back on promoting the Union and welcoming the demise of the SNP, given their desire to break up our great United Kingdom," she stated.
Lockhart also congratulated the bands and lodges from Northern Ireland who made the journey to both Glasgow and Airdrie. "Congratulations to all those bands and lodges from Northern Ireland who travelled to both Glasgow and Airdrie. It is always great to see my good friends from Banbridge District and Derrycarne Loyal Orange Lodges."
The celebrations in Glasgow were a powerful reminder of the shared cultural ties and the enduring friendship between Scotland and Northern Ireland. Lockhart’s participation underscores her enduring commitment to fostering these connections and promoting unity within the United Kingdom.
