Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart Backs Banbridge VE Day 80th Anniversary Parade

Carla Lockhart MP • March 5, 2025

The Banbridge District LOL is set to host a major VE Day 80th Anniversary Parade on Thursday, 8th May 2025, marking this significant milestone in our nation's history. Following the successful format of the NI Centennial Parade and King’s Coronation Parade, this large-scale event will bring together Orange Districts, bands, and community members in a fitting tribute to the heroes of the Second World War.

Local MP for Upper Bann, Carla Lockhart, has welcomed the plans and pledged her full support for what promises to be a memorable and meaningful occasion.

Speaking ahead of the event, Carla Lockhart MP said:

"I am absolutely delighted to lend my full support to the Banbridge VE Day 80th Anniversary Parade. This event will be a fitting tribute to those who sacrificed so much for our freedoms, and I commend the Banbridge District LOL for their efforts in organising what will be an incredible day of remembrance and celebration.

"The scale of this parade reflects the deep respect and gratitude felt within our community towards those who served during the Second World War. It is wonderful to see so many Lodges, bands, and individuals coming together to honour this significant anniversary. I would encourage as many people as possible to take part, ensuring a strong turnout in remembrance of the bravery and sacrifice of the generation who secured our liberty.

"I look forward to being in Banbridge on 8th May 2025 to mark this important occasion alongside so many from across the country. Well done to everyone involved in making this happen – your dedication to commemorating our history is truly commendable."

With opportunities for Orange Lodges, bands, a Massed Colour Party, and WWII-themed banners, the parade is shaping up to be an unmissable event. Organisers are encouraging all those interested to register their participation and help spread the word to ensure a strong and dignified display on the day.

For more information, those wishing to take part should contact their District Officers or the event organisers directly.
