Lockhart welcomes progress on controlled crossing proposal at Magheralin PS

Carla Lockhart MP • November 14, 2023

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has updated constituents on proposals for a controlled pedestrian crossing at Magheralin Primary School. The DUP MP has been pressing the Department for Infrastructure to deliver this safety provision for pupils and parents attending the school.

Carla Lockhart said:

“Following my request to the Department for Infrastructure, officials have now completed an assessment of the site at Magheralin Primary School for a controlled crossing.

This has resulted in the proposal now being placed on a list of potential schemes to be progressed in the next financial year. This is a welcome step forward and certainly I will continue to engage with the Department to emphasise just how important and how urgent this provision is at the school.

We all know how busy Magheralin is, with a lot of through traffic and indeed a growing village community too. We need to ensure that the road network is as safe as it can be, not least for pupils and parents making their way to and from school.

A controlled crossing is badly needed and I will certainly continue to work with the school community to make the strongest possible case.”
