Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has praised the generosity and community spirit on display after attending two local coffee morning fundraisers supporting important causes across the area.
Mrs Lockhart began the day at a charity coffee morning in aid of the Banbridge & District MS Support Group at Cove & Co, recognising the invaluable work carried out by local organisations supporting individuals and families.
She later attended a fundraiser at All Saints’ Parish Church, Tullylish, near Gilford, in support of Azaria as she prepares to travel to South Africa to help build homes for those in need.
Speaking after the events, Mrs Lockhart said:
“It was a real pleasure to attend two wonderful community events and see first-hand the generosity and kindness that exists across our area.
The Banbridge & District MS Support Group provides so much more than support services. Groups like this offer friendship, encouragement and practical help to so many people, and events like these play an important role in ensuring that work can continue.”
Mrs Lockhart also paid tribute to Azaria and those supporting her fundraising efforts.
“It was especially lovely to attend the fundraiser at All Saints’ Church in Tullylish and support Azaria as she prepares for what will be an incredible journey to South Africa.
To see a young person willing to give their time and energy to help build homes for those in need is truly inspiring. It was clear to see the support surrounding her, with a real family and community effort behind this worthy cause.”
Mrs Lockhart said the events reflected the very best of local communities.
“One of the things I value most about Upper Bann is the willingness of people to step forward, help others and support causes that make a difference. Whether supporting people locally through the MS Support Group or helping communities overseas, these efforts deserve to be recognised and celebrated.”
