LOCKHART PRAISES BLAKE’S LASTING LEGACY AND THE FAMILY CONTINUING HIS INSPIRING IMPACT

Carla Lockhart MP • June 22, 2026

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has paid tribute to the family of Blake McCaughey following a special 18-mile walk around Craigavon Lakes held in his memory.

The walk marked Blake’s 18 years and brought together family, friends and supporters to celebrate his life and raise awareness of the work being carried out through Blake’s Lasting Legacy.

Carla Lockhart MP said:

“With so much focus on politics and world events, it is important that we do not lose sight of the families in our communities who continue to face enormous challenges every single day.”

“It was a privilege to spend time with Christine, Pixie, Andy and the wider family during this special walk around Craigavon Lakes as we remembered Blake and reflected on the incredible impact he continues to have on so many lives.”

“The 18-mile walk was a fitting tribute to Blake’s 18 years. Although his life was tragically cut short, his courage, determination and infectious spirit continue to inspire everyone who knew him and many more who have since come to know his story.”

“Blake’s legacy lives on through the awareness he raised, the people he brought together and the support now being provided to other families through Blake’s Lasting Legacy. What his family has created in his memory is truly remarkable.”

“Families rely on a network of support from the NHS, children’s nurses, domiciliary care workers and many other dedicated professionals. These services play a vital role and it is essential that they work together to provide the care and support families need during the most difficult times.”

“Despite her own grief, Christine has shown tremendous strength and determination in using her experience to help others. She understands first-hand the challenges families face and is committed to ensuring that others receive the support they need. Turning heartbreak into hope for other families is an extraordinary legacy to build in Blake’s name.”

“The support shown for this walk demonstrated just how deeply Blake touched the lives of those around him. He will never be forgotten, and I have no doubt that the work being carried out through Blake’s Lasting Legacy will continue to make a positive difference to families for many years to come.”
