Lockhart Encourages Support for Fibro Friends Coffee Morning in Banbridge

Carla Lockhart MP • April 21, 2026

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart is encouraging the local community to come out and support the upcoming Fibro Friends Coffee Morning, taking place at Banbridge Old Town Hall on Saturday 25th April at 9:30am.

The event marks an important moment for the Fibro Friends Fibromyalgia Support Group as they relaunch and re-energise their work within the Banbridge area.

Mrs Lockhart praised the group for their long-standing commitment to supporting those living with fibromyalgia.

Speaking ahead of the event, she said:

“Fibro Friends has been a real constant in Banbridge over the last number of years, providing invaluable support, understanding and friendship to those living with fibromyalgia. This relaunch marks an exciting new chapter for the group as they build momentum and continue their important work in the community.

I have been really pleased to meet with Anthea McRoberts and Rene McCandless in recent weeks and to hear about their plans going forward. Their dedication and passion have been the backbone of this group, and it is clear they are determined to grow and strengthen the support available locally.”

Mrs Lockhart highlighted the importance of raising awareness of fibromyalgia and the need for continued support for those affected.

“Fibromyalgia is a condition that affects a significant number of people, often in ways that are not always visible. Many live with chronic pain, fatigue and other challenging symptoms, and groups like Fibro Friends play a vital role in ensuring no one has to face that journey alone.

Support networks like this are essential, offering not only practical advice but also a sense of community and understanding.

This event is the group getting out of the starting blocks publicly again, and it deserves strong community backing. I would encourage everyone who can to come along, support the group, and help ensure its continued success.

Banbridge has always been a community that shows up for one another, and this is another opportunity to do just that.”
