Legananny Road must reopen urgently

Carla Lockhart MP • January 3, 2024

Local MP Carla Lockhart has been continuing to work with residents living in the vicinity of the Legananny Road which has been closed since the severe flooding in November.

Speaking after meeting with residents in Scarva, the DUP representative said:

“This is a serious issue at Legananny Road and it is vital for the safety of all road users that we see the works to the road and bridge expedited given the impact it is having on local road users and those who live particularly on the Old Mill Road which is being used as an unofficial diversionary route.

Following interaction with DFI they have now a contractor on site with the promise that the project is being prioritised and works will reconvene after Christmas at pace.

In the meantime I have requested that the Old Mill Road be inspected and cleaned, I would also ask those using it to be mindful of residents living on the road and their property. Also I would encourage road users to use the official diversionary route as oppose to a shortcut.

There is no doubt our roads need significant investment and I will continue to champion the needs of our local road network.”
