Early diagnosis key to cancer outcomes
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has commented on figures from the NI Cancer Registry, that show early diagnosis of cancers in Northern Ireland is improving.

The DUP representative said:
“Cancer impacts on so many families and the loss of a loved one to this horrible disease is devastating.
We need to see awareness of cancer increasing, particularly in terms of symptoms, so that early diagnosis can happen which is so key to better prognosis in cancer patients.
Figures from the NI Cancer Register show that early diagnosis of cancer is improving in Northern Ireland across nearly all cancer types. This is some good news amongst the very saddening figures that show the prevalence of cancer in Northern Ireland.
We must do all we can to encourage people showing any symptoms to visit their GP or other healthcare professional. Early diagnosis is vital and we must always highlight this as we battle cancer”.
