Community activities to the fore across Upper Bann

Carla Lockhart MP • June 6, 2023

Local MP Carla Lockhart joined with communities at various events across Upper Bann on Saturday, and paid tribute to the volunteers who put a huge amount of time and effort into organising such a range of community events.

The DUP MP said:

“There was certainly plenty of choice for a good day out on Saturday, with a range of events across Upper Bann to suit a range of interests.

The Drumcree Family Fun Day and Vintage Rally brought a huge number of people together, with a wonderful range of displays and activities for everyone to enjoy. The vintage vehicles were certainly gleaming in the sunshine, and the ice cream proved popular with many! The day is a huge credit to the people of Drumcree Parish who organise the event, and I am delighted their hard work paid off with the Fun Day and Vintage Rally being a resounding success.

I also want to congratulate Helping Hands for their community Open Day, with another great example of a group putting in a huge amount of work for the community to enjoy. Well done again to the team at Helping Hands for a brilliant community evet.

After a very enjoyable visit to Lurgan Show, the final stop of the day was at Mourneview Park in Lurgan where the Glenavon Ladies held a very enjoyable Afternoon Tea. The style was on show, as were some good coffee and bakes. Well done to the ladies at Glenavon for a really good social occasion.

All these events are a credit to the amazing volunteers we have across Upper Bann who put huge time and effort into organising events that we can all enjoy. A sincere word of thanks to everyone involved – the crowds and enjoyment at each event evidence how beneficial these events are to so many people.”
