Carla Lockhart MP Celebrates Culture and Heritage at the Royal 13th at Scarva

Carla Lockhart, Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, joined tens of thousands of spectators for a fantastic day of culture and celebration at the annual Royal 13th event at Scarva. The event, blessed with great weather, showcased our rich cultural history through the traditional Sham Fight between King William and King James alongside an array or excellent musical performances.

Carla expressed her delight at the event's success, saying, "this was another superb day out for all the family at the Royal 13th, Scarva.  Early estimations would indicate that this was potentially the biggest year in quite some time with police saying upwards on 120,000 were in attendance.  We were blessed with great weather, and the best of music from our amazing marching bands. I was delighted to see Upper Bann so well represented with many Sir Knights on parade alongside the most superb pipe, accordion, silver, and flute bands. This just makes me immensely proud of our culture and heritage!

The Royal 13th at Scarva is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, and this year was no exception.  It really was a superb family day out. A massive well done to, RBP 1000 and particularly the Sham Fight Committee”, Lockhart added, commending the organisers for their efforts in creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

Carla Lockhart MP concluded her day by joining the Lurgan Royal Black District Chapter No. 2 on their return parade from Bangor in Lurgan. "Another superb day and I know speaking with members they certainly had an enjoyable day in the seaside town of, Bangor.  I always enjoy seeing the return parade in Lurgan as once again we welcomed a number of Scottish bands to our streets!"
