Carla Lockhart MP • October 30, 2024

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has praised the Banbridge Job Fair as a resounding success. Attending the event to connect with participating businesses and highlight the support services available to jobseekers, she noted the impressive turnout and the wealth of opportunities offered. This year, 26 companies and organisations from various sectors showcased hundreds of job openings, with some attendees even securing interviews on the spot.

Reflecting on the event, Carla Lockhart commented, “The job fair was another success story, with steady streams of people engaging with the diverse range of businesses present. We had representation across multiple industries, including the public sector, engineering, hospitality, healthcare, retail, tourism, and care. Businesses were enthusiastic, reporting many promising connections with potential employees.”

She added, “It is essential to hold initiatives like this to create opportunities for businesses to tap into the local talent pool. Jobseekers, too, benefit greatly from seeing the breadth of opportunities available and from accessing support services that can help them enter or diversify within the labour market.”

Commending the local Jobs and Benefits Office for their efforts in organising the fair, she encouraged them to continue building these vital connections between businesses and the workforce. "For anyone interested in the list of available positions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch."
