Traffic disruption in Waringstown must be minimised

Carla Lockhart MP • February 14, 2023

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has met with Firmus Gas representatives in Waringstown to discuss their works programme in the village, and to press for acceleration of timescales for completion in order to minimise disruption in the village. The local MP has been contacted by members of the local community expressing frustration at the impact of the works on traffic flows.

Carla Lockhart said:

“For around two years now there have been a range of works undertaken in Waringstown, all of which have impacted upon traffic flows. This is a particularly long period of disruption, and not only is frustrating for those driving through the village but it also has a huge impact on local business.

We need to see these works brought to a speedy conclusion and that was the message I made most strongly at my meeting with Firmus Gas. Contractors will be working hard this week to get to the far side of the Mill Hill junction and then another couple of weeks thereafter will take them to the end of the village. For this element of the scheme, the likely timetable for completion is early March.

The housing developments will then be the priority with no more works on the main road, with an expected timescale for completion being given as June.

I will continue to liaise with the contractors as works progress. It is vital that works continue at pace, and any acceleration of these timescales must be explored. In the meantime, if anyone has any specific concern or issue, please get in touch and I will do what I can to help bring about solutions.”
