Solar lighting for Factory View

Carla Lockhart MP • September 26, 2023

Upper Bann, MP, Carla Lockhart has been working with residents, the Policing Community Safety Partnership, NIE and other statutory bodies to try and resolve a long running lighting issue in Factory View, Banbridge.  The street lighting which had been operational for over 50 years at the front of the houses was turned off just over a year ago leaving a very dark, unlit street.

Speaking following the complaints from residents Carla Lockhart said, “For a long number of months I have been seeking to get to the bottom of why lights in Factory View have been switched off and ownership. Whilst we try to make long term progress, in the interim after referring this to Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon PCSP, Mr Billy Stewart carried out some home safety checks for some of the residents resulting in him being able to present them with a number of solar powered lighting units for their properties.

Residents whilst frustrated with getting a long-term resolve are delighted with the gesture and it has helped with concerns coming into the winter.

Working together has brought about this assistance for residents. Work continues.  I am pleased along with PCSP to have helped in a small way alongside my colleague Cllr Paul Greenfield who is a PCSP member. I will be continuing to work on the outstanding ownership issues and will be seeking to get a long term resolve to this problem.”
