Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the opening of the Empire Poppy Store, at Brownlow House in Lurgan. The new venture has been launched by local charity Ancre Somme Association.

Speaking on a visit to the store In the courtyard at Brownlow, the DUP representative said:

“Ancre Somme Association continue to go from strength to strength, and their ongoing programme to educate, in particular our young people, in tremendous. Their work in promoting a better understanding of the past, to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and support todays’ military personnel in invaluable as we seek to promote the importance of commemoration and the contribution of our armed forces to our society.

This new ‘Empire Poppy Store’ in the courtyard at Brownlow House is a wonderful addition to the offering here at Brownlow, but also offers the public a wide array of resources and commemorative purchases. There is a treasure trove of badges, brooches, flags, mugs, books, clothing and lots of other merchandise for sale.

I would encourage people to visit the shop, which is open from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Saturday. I know the support of the public would be most welcome, and all funds accrued will go towards the ongoing work of Ancre Somme Association Charity.”
