DUP MP Carla Lockhart recently attended a coffee morning in Banbridge Free Presbyterian Church to raise funds for a missionary endeavour in Uganda.

As part of the coffee morning local Loughbrickland woman June McComb was selling handmade cards which she takes painstaking care in creating. June gives all her proceeds to missionary work having been in England for a number of years where her husband, and Banbridge man, Dessie was the pastor of a number of churches in Birmingham and Bridlington, Yorkshire.

June runs this event annually and has raised thousands of pounds for the school and missionaries in Uganda through her efforts.

Speaking after the event Carla Lockhart said, “I want to commend June for all her efforts in raising money for such a good cause. The work in Uganda is growing and with this growth there is the need for better facilities. I can recommend the cards as being very tastefully decorated and congratulate her on so much money being raised. Also thanks to the efforts of the church for a superb coffee morning with lots of nice sweet treats and a cuppa. With over 80 in attendance it really was a big success.”
