Lockhart welcomes pavement scheme at Birches

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has given a warm welcome to news from the Department for Infrastructure that a £60,000 pavement extension project will be delivered at the Birches, Portadown.

Carla Lockhart said:

 

“This is very good news for the community, with confirmation I have received from the Department for Infrastructure that the existing footway from Birches Crossroads to Clonmakate Road and Birches Primary School is to be extended.

 

This is a very positive outcome to a long campaign, on which I have worked alongside local residents and the school leadership team. This coordinated and sustained campaign will now see £60,000 invested to extend the footway.

 

On completion there is no doubt that this scheme will improve the safety of pedestrians, especially school children and parents/carers, to and from school.

 

I do wish to place on record my thanks to everyone who has joined in this very positive and ultimately successful campaign. My thanks also go to the local Department for Infrastructure team for listening to our concerns and delivering this scheme.
