LOCKHART TO HOST 3 FAMILY BENEFITS ADVICE SURGERIES

DUP MP Carla Lockhart is to host three sessions on family/childcare benefits in conjunction with Employers for Childcare in the month of March. Dates are as follows;
10th March - Lurgan - Carla Lockhart MP - 31-33 Queen St, Lurgan
24th March - Portadown - YMCA, Jervis Street, Portadown
31st March - Banbridge - Old Town Hall
9.30 - 1.00pm (20 min sessions)
The sessions last about 20 minutes each and need to be booked in advance via my office phone number on 02838 310088 or via email carla.lockhart.mp@parliament.uk. The advice sessions are free and are open to parents working or thinking of going back to work who have dependent children.
The Upper Bann MP is encouraging people who believe they are entitled to additional help or struggling to make an appointment at any of the three venues. Employers for Childcare charity’s work includes providing a Freephone helpline and outreach service through their Family Benefits Advice Service alongside carrying out research and lobbying work on behalf of parents.
Speaking on the matter. Carla Lockhart said, “This is a very useful facility to have and I know many families struggle with childcare costs and the daily cost of living. Come along and speak with the professionals who will be able to guide you and answer all your questions with regards the support available. Employers For Childcare Benefits Advice gurus will be available to provide FREE and conidential advice if you are a parent with dependent children, and you are:
- Unsure of which benefits you may be entitled to receive if you start or go back to work.
- Unable to work due to childcare costs.
- Thinking about changing your hours of work.
- Trying to find the best childcare option for your family.
- Struggling to manage work and family responsibilities.

Carla Lockhart MP has delivered over 200 Bibles, generously donated by people from across Upper Bann, to The Northern Ireland Boys' Brigade (BBNI) as part of their Bibles for Kenya appeal. Carla Lockhart MP is encouraging constituents in Upper Bann to take advantage of Macmillan Cancer Support’s Toilet Card, a simple yet essential tool designed to help individuals undergoing cancer treatment access public toilet more easily. Some cancer treatments can cause unexpected changes to bowel or bladder function, which can make finding a toilet in public a real challenge. The Macmillan Toilet Card discreetly explains that the cardholder has a medical condition and needs urgent access to a toilet, helping to reduce stress and embarrassment in these situations.
Carla Lockhart MP enjoyed a fantastic morning at the Downshire Guiding Star Flute Band’s Big Breakfast on Saturday 28th December, joining a large crowd of supporters to help raise funds for the band’s new uniforms.

Carla Lockhart MP for Upper Bann has said the community of Banbridge has been left shocked and heartbroken following the tragic death of Karen Cummings, who was found murdered earlier this week. Police investigations are ongoing, and it is vital that the PSNI are given the space and time they need to carry out their work and ensure justice is served.
Speaking on the matter Carla Lockhart MP said “I am aware of a tragic incident that has occurred in Banbridge tonight which has sadly resulted in the loss of a life. My sympathies are very much with the family of the deceased at this very difficult time.
