Local DUP MP Carla Lockhart joined members of Lurgan and Brownlow Royal British Legion at a service in St. John’s Parish to launch their 2023 Poppy Appeal.

Speaking after attending the service, the Upper Bann representative said:

“Every year members of the Royal British Legion give of their time to raise incredible sums of money through the Poppy Appeal. This can be through door to door collections, street collections, or by holding events. It is a cause which attracts great support from the community as we recognise the wonderful work of the RBL in supporting veterans and their families.

Lurgan and Brownlow RBL have raised over £36,000 to helps our veterans community which is an incredible sum. They are a great example of the RBL Branch, with a band of volunteers with a real heart for the work of the Legion.

This service was a fitting start to the 2023 Poppy Appeal. Over the coming weeks there will be many opportunities to support this very worthy cause, and I would encourage the people of Upper Bann to give generously to the RBL. We owe a great debt to those who have served our nation, and this is our way of saying ‘thankyou’ and to show our support.”
