Lockhart Helps Out At Big Bucket Collection In Banbridge And Lurgan

Carla Lockhart MP • March 26, 2024

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart has taken to the streets to support the Southern Area Hospice in Newry as part of their Big Bucket Collection across Northern Ireland.  The aim of such a fundraising effort is to collect in excess of £40,000 in one day to help with the running of this invaluable service.  Hundreds of volunteers helped out with many having had family members who have experienced the help and support of the Hospice.

Speaking following the collections Carla Lockhart said, “it was an honour to take to the streets and be amongst hundreds of others who gave their time to collect for the Southern Area Hospice in towns right across Northern Ireland.  In both Banbridge and Lurgan the generosity towards the Hospice was so evident with many people giving so sacrificially.  My family have personal experience with the Hospice and this made it even more important to do and actually was quite emotional when I talked to so many whose loved ones received end of life care in the Hospice.

I want to commend all those who donated to this very worthy cause and the army of volunteers who helped out over the course of the day.  Despite the increased cost of living the generosity was humbling.  I will continue to be an advocate for this service and help in whatever way I can to raise funds for it.”
