Local Festival of Remembrance a poignant time of reflection

Carla Lockhart MP • November 1, 2022

DUP MP Carla Lockhart has commended Portadown Branch of the Royal British Legion and RBL Lurgan and Brownlow Branch for hosting a wonderful Festival of Remembrance at Craigavon Civic Centre.

Speaking after the event, the local MP said:

“As our nation enters a period of Remembrance for the fallen, it is lovely to attend local acts of Remembrance in towns and villages across Upper Bann as young and old join together to pay respects to those who have served and sacrificed all.

Local branches of the Royal British Legion do fantastic work in organising these events, and tonight it was lovely to join with Portadown Branch of the RBL and Lurgan and Brownlow RBL for their Festival of Remembrance at Craigavon Civic Centre.

The music and dancing helped contribute to a very poignant event. It was also moving to hear tributes to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Ulster Constabulary GC Foundation and the 40th anniversary of the Falkland’s conflict.

My thanks go to all the volunteers who contributed to this very special occasion. We must never forget the fallen, and those who have served to defend the freedoms we enjoy today.”
