Lifetime of service to BB celebrated

Carla Lockhart MP • May 30, 2023

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart joined Lord Mayor Paul Greenfield at a reception to mark 50 years of service to 4th Portadown Boys Brigade by Mrs Maureen Hunter, and paid tribute to this lifetime of dedication to BB and to the local community.

Speaking after the reception, Carla Lockhart said:

“The Boys Brigade is a wonderful organisation that helps to shape the lives of young men for good, not just in their personal lives but also for the betterment of society.

The BB can only do this through the dedication and example of its leaders. For over 50 years now, 4th Portadown BB has benefited from the marvellous contribution of Mrs Maureen Hunter. As Officer in charge of the Anchor Boys, Maureen is much loved by all who have been part of 4th Portadown. So many lives have been impacted by Maureen over this half a century of service.

It is lovely to now see her daughters follow in her footsteps in taking on positions of leadership within BB. We need people to step up in these important volunteer organisations to help instruct young people.

I pay tribute to Maureen and wish her many years of health and happiness in the future. My thanks also to the Lord Mayor, my colleague Paul Greenfield, for hosting this very fitting reception.”
