Community spirit alive and well at fundraising breakfasts

Carla Lockhart MP • April 4, 2022

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has commended St Columba’s Parish Church, and Clogher LOL 529 and RBP 139 on their respective fundraising breakfasts this weekend. The MP called at both events, meeting local people and enjoying some of the delicious food on offer.

Carla Lockhart said:

“It is really encouraging to see the recommencement of these community breakfasts right across the constituency. COVID put an end to these types of events, but now that we are emerging from the pandemic it is fantastic to see our Church Halls and Orange Halls open their doors again to the local community to bring people together and raise money for good causes.

First up on Saturday was a wonderful breakfast at St Columba’s Parish Church. Such a wonderful atmosphere in the hall, with people of all ages from right across the community enjoying a delicious breakfast. I must commend the organisers and the army of cooks for a wonderful event.

Then it was on to Clogher LOL 529 and RBP 139 for another breakfast, which once again was incredibly well supported and another fine example of our Ulster cuisine! It never ceases to amaze me the wonderful job these volunteer groups do in putting on these events. It is a credit to everyone involved and I look forward to seeing more of these events in our area over the coming weeks and months.”
