Carla Lockhart MP • November 26, 2024

Carla Lockhart, Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, has praised the Banbridge Performing Arts Festival Speech and Drama section as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. The festival, which commenced this week, continues to inspire and nurture creativity among hundreds of young people in the local community.

Carla joined Pat and Frank Mulligan and the organising committee as the festival got underway, with children and young people streaming in to showcase their talent and perform in front of audiences.

Speaking after attending the event, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was an absolute delight to join Pat, Frank, and the entire team at the Banbridge Performing Arts Festival as they celebrate this incredible milestone of 50 years. The festival is buzzing with energy as hundreds of young people take the stage to share their talent, supported by parents and teachers who have encouraged them every step of the way.

“As I watched some of the performances, it brought back fond memories of my own school days, participating in similar festivals. It is a wonderful platform for young people to develop confidence, creativity, and communication skills—qualities that will stand them in good stead for life.”

Carla also commended the commitment and dedication of the organisers, especially Pat and Frank Mulligan, who have been at the heart of the festival throughout its 50 years.

“High praise must go to Pat and Frank Mulligan for their tireless efforts in organising this fantastic event year after year.”
