Boys Brigade a force for good in community

Carla Lockhart MP • November 22, 2022

Local MP Carla Lockhart has thanked all those in leadership of the local Boys Brigade for their ongoing commitment to the organisation, and for the positive impact on the lives of boys and young men in the area. Mrs Lockhart was commenting after attending the 65th anniversary enrolment service for 5th Portadown Boys Brigade, Tartarghan.

Carla Lockhart said:

“Across Upper Bann hundreds of boys and young men will be enrolling again in the Boys Brigade for the forthcoming year. It is a wonderful organisation that offers so much to those in its ranks. From talking to some of those enrolling here at Tartarghan, it is clear how much the boys enjoy BB, and how it engrains in them so many positive attributes for the challenges and opportunities that come along in life.

Of course key to the organisation is the commitment of the Captain, Officers and Helpers in the group. Many hours are consumed in running a BB Company, and I want to express my thanks for the dedication of everyone involved in providing this very positive pathway for our younger generations to follow on.

To be marking the 65th anniversary enrolment today at Tartarghan is a huge honour, and it certainly makes one think about how many lives have been moulded by the influence of the BB at this church.

I want to thank Julie Cardwell and David for their invitation to attend todays service, and wish the BB Company well for the year ahead.”
