Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has praised the organisers of the VE Day 80th Anniversary Community Fun Day held in Waringstown on Monday 5th May. The event, hosted by LOL 83 at Waringstown Orange Hall, brought the local community together to remember, reflect, and celebrate with a packed programme of family-friendly activities.

Speaking on the issue Carla Lockhart MP said:

“When Alan Hudson organises a community event, you can be sure it will be a mighty one, and this was no exception! I would congratulate Alan and the entire team at LOL 83 for putting on a superb and meaningful day that truly reflected the spirit of VE Day.

With bouncy castles, a BBQ, music, WWII memorabilia displays, and a wonderful exhibition by local children, the day had something for everyone, all while raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. It was a fantastic mix of fun and remembrance.

I also want to commend the Lodge for their continued investment in the refurbishment of their hall. It is looking fantastic and it’s clear to see the pride and effort that has gone into the improvements, with more exciting work still to come.

Events like this are what community is all about celebrating our heritage, teaching younger generations about our shared history, and standing together in honour of those who served. Well done to everyone involved.”
