Upper Bann MP to Host Sports Funding Seminar for Local Clubs and Organisations

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart is set to host a Sports Funding Seminar on Thursday 22nd May, aimed at helping local sports clubs and organisations access the funding they need to grow and thrive.

The online event, delivered in partnership with funding expert Richard Forsythe from Forsythe Consultancy, will provide practical guidance on how to identify, apply for, and secure financial support for a wide range of sporting activities and initiatives.


The seminar will take place on Zoom at 7:30pm and is open to sports clubs, community groups, and volunteers across Upper Bann and beyond who are keen to learn more about funding opportunities available to them.


Encouraging local groups to take part, Carla Lockhart MP said:


“Our local sports clubs and organisations are at the heart of community life — promoting health, teamwork, and positive engagement for people of all ages. However, many struggle with limited funding, especially in the current climate.


That’s why I’m delighted to partner with Richard Forsythe, whose extensive experience in helping groups navigate the funding landscape will be a huge asset to those attending. Whether you’re looking to improve facilities, purchase equipment, or expand programmes, this seminar will offer practical advice and support.

Carla Lockhart, MP for Upper Bann, is urging men aged 65 and over to take advantage of the NHS screening programme for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), a potentially life-threatening condition that often has no symptoms. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a swelling in the aorta, the main artery that carries blood from the heart. While most aneurysms do not cause immediate problems, there is a serious risk that they could burst, leading to life-threatening internal bleeding.
