Platinum Jubilee celebrations a mark of love and affection for Her Majesty The Queen

Carla Lockhart MP • May 31, 2022

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has paid tribute to Her Majesty The Queen as the nation looks forward to marking the Platinum Jubilee this weekend.

The DUP representative said:

“This is a truly historic occasion as we celebrate, and give thanks for, the 70-year reign of Her Majesty The Queen. It is also a time for people across the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth, to pay tribute to a lifetime of service.

Becoming the first monarch to reach a Platinum Jubilee is a remarkable achievement. A reign that has been carried out with the utmost devotion, but also dignity and grace. A steady hand guiding the nation through good times, and bad. When one considers the changes that have occurred within society in the seventy years of her reign, it is a testament to her that the love and affection in which she is held has never waned. Indeed, her place in the hearts of the people is a sure as ever.

Across Upper Bann, as will be the case across the UK, communities will join this week and during the weekend to light beacons and hold street parties to celebrate. I want to thank those community volunteers who have put so much effort into organising events, and I know they will be enjoyed by thousands of Her Majesty’s loyal subjects here in Upper Bann.

I wish everyone a very enjoyable Platinum Jubilee weekend, and on behalf of the people of Upper Bann wish Her Majesty The Queen a wonderful Platinum Jubilee and best wishes for many more years to reign over us.”
