Carla Lockhart MP’s Christmas Message 2024

Speaking ahead of Christmas Day, Carla Lockhart MP for Upper Bann said:

“As the festive period is now upon us, I want to extend my warmest Christmas greetings to you and your loved ones. This time of year is an opportunity to reflect on the year past and to look ahead with hope and optimism for the year to come.

This year, 2024, has been significant, not least with the General Election in July past. I want to again share my heartfelt gratitude to everyone in Upper Bann for your support and trust. Representing this constituency continues to be my greatest privilege, and I remain deeply committed to serving you and working hard for our community as we approach the New Year.

Christmas is my favourite time of the year. It is a season when we spend time with friends and family, but it is also a time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas: the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world. In Christ’s coming to Earth, we are reminded of God’s love for us all, His gift of hope, and His promise of everlasting life for those who trust in Him.

I know for many in our community this year has been challenging. The pressures of the cost of living, ill health, loneliness, or the loss of a loved one can make this time of year particularly difficult. I too reflect on the empty chair in my family home and can relate to so many on the loss of that special person. But it is my hope that, through faith, you will find comfort, and that 2025 will bring renewed hope and better days for all.

Let us also give thanks to those who will be working throughout Christmas to serve our community. From our incredible healthcare staff, the PSNI, emergency services, and essential workers, to our armed forces at home and overseas, we owe each of you our gratitude for your dedication and sacrifice.

Thank you to the people of Upper Bann for your unwavering support throughout the year and for making this such a special constituency to represent. Be assured that in 2025, my work for you will continue with determination and focus.

May this Christmas fill your hearts with peace and joy, and may the New Year bring health, happiness, and hope for brighter days ahead.
