Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart has commended community groups across the constituency for their Christmas efforts in turning on their Christmas tree lights in style.  Speaking having attended a number or them throughout the constituency she said;

“It is wonderful this year to see the return of many Christmas community events particularly the switch on of lights and of course a visit from the man in the big red coat.  Given all that the community has endured with COVID restrictions it is nice to see the place sparkle again.

I was honoured to be asked to switch on both Waringstown and Scarva lights with the help of lots of children from the local areas.  I would commend both the Scarva Community group who this year have gone the extra mile by placing Christmas trees on the green bringing a real Christmas feel to the village.  I would particularly thank Leonard Anderson and the team who works tirelessly to ensure the community are included and that Scarva is always in pristine condition.  Also to the wonderful Sings and Strings Quartet who accompanied the singing at the event.

Also this year to Mr Alan Hudson in Waringstown who took on a new venture with the lighting up of a new Christmas tree in Holy Trinity Church grounds in the village.  It was lovely to hear the children from the church singing carols and enjoying a treats that Santa brought in his shopping trolley.  A superb effort by Alan and the team.

To all the towns and villages it is wonderful to see them well lit and so many community events taking place many of which are run by community volunteers.  Also to ABC Council, thank you and particularly to the small team who put the decorations up and co-ordinate the lighting at the community events.  It certainly puts us all in the mood for Christmas.”
