Lockhart Welcomes Strong Turnout for Church Funding Booklet Launch

Carla Lockhart MP • March 24, 2026

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has welcomed a strong turnout at the launch of her Church Funding Booklet at Oxford Island, with more than 140 people in attendance from churches and faith-based organisations across the constituency and beyond.

The event, held at the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, brought together church leaders, volunteers and community representatives to explore funding opportunities and practical support available to local organisations.

Mrs Lockhart said she was encouraged by the level of engagement and the positive discussions that took place throughout the morning.

Commenting, Mrs Lockhart said:

“It was an amazing morning at the beautiful Oxford Island, and I was genuinely blown away by the turnout. To have over 140 people attend from churches and faith-based organisations right across the area shows just how important this resource is.

We had some really valuable conversations around funding and the opportunities that are out there, whether for capital or revenue projects. It is about being prepared, building relationships and taking that first step.

I was also delighted to have Trevor Lockhart with us, sharing his experience and knowledge. He has helped secure significant funding for churches and community groups, and his insight was greatly appreciated by those in attendance.

This booklet is designed to be a practical tool to help churches and organisations identify and access funding streams, and I am pleased that it is now available online for wider use.

I want to thank everyone who came along, as well as my office team for ensuring the event ran so smoothly. I hope this resource will be of real benefit and support to churches and communities across Upper Bann and beyond.”
