Lockhart welcomes progress on Portmore Street resurfacing but vows to keep pressure on delivery
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed confirmation that Portmore Street in Portadown is to be included in a resurfacing programme, following concerns raised with her by local residents.

Ms Lockhart had previously contacted the Department for Infrastructure (DFI) to request an inspection of the road after constituents highlighted its poor condition.
DFI has now confirmed that Portmore Street would benefit from resurfacing works and has been added to a programme of works to be completed as resources and competing demands allow.
Speaking on the development, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“Following concerns raised with me about the condition of Portmore Street in Portadown, I asked the Department for Infrastructure to carry out an inspection.
I welcome confirmation that the road has now been identified for resurfacing and added to the programme of works. This is an important step forward.
However, inclusion in a programme is only part of the process. I will continue pressing to ensure that this work is delivered and not left on a list without action.
While this is positive news for Portmore Street, it also highlights the wider pressures facing our roads network. This is just one scheme among many that are urgently needed.”
Ms Lockhart added that she will continue to engage with the Department to ensure the project is progressed as quickly as possible.
“I will keep pushing to see this work delivered. Residents deserve to see real improvements on the ground,” she said.
