Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed the opening of a new childcare facility, Cherry Trees and Honey Bees, in Donaghcloney, describing it as a “fantastic addition” to the local community.

Mrs Lockhart attended the official opening and paid tribute to owner Beulah Keane for her vision, dedication and commitment in bringing the project to life.

Speaking after the visit, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was a real privilege to attend the opening of Cherry Trees and Honey Bees and to see first-hand the incredible work that has gone into creating such a warm and welcoming environment for children.

“Beulah has been on an inspiring journey with this venture, and it is wonderful to see it all come together. The transformation of what was once a residential property into a safe, caring and nurturing space for children is a remarkable achievement.

“There is a genuine sense that this is a home from home for those who will attend. That kind of environment is so important for young children, and I have no doubt that families will greatly value what is being offered here.”

Mrs Lockhart also highlighted the importance of accessible, high-quality childcare provision for local families.

“Facilities like this play a vital role in supporting working families and strengthening our communities. It is encouraging to see local investment in childcare, particularly when it is delivered with such care and attention to detail.”

During the visit, Mrs Lockhart had the opportunity to meet staff, families and even Elle, the therapy dog, who she described as “a lovely addition to what is already a very special setting.”

She concluded by wishing Beulah Keane and her team every success for the future.

“I want to wish Beulah and her team all the very best as they begin this new chapter. She deserves every success, and I would encourage anyone seeking childcare locally to consider getting in touch.”
