Lockhart welcomes Heart Failure Warriors NI to Westminster

Carla Lockhart MP • December 5, 2023

DUP MP Carla Lockhart had the privilege of welcoming Nicole McKelvie from charity Heart Failure Warriors NI to Westminster last week, to discuss Government support for research into heart failure causes and treatment. Nicole was joined by Laurence Humphries-Davies of the British Society for Heart Failure.

The Upper Bann MP said:

“It was wonderful to welcome Nicole to Westminster. Nicole is an inspirational lady, who does so much positive work in raising awareness of heart failure having recently been diagnosed with the condition. She has an amazing commitment to ensuring this issue is very much to the fore in the minds of politicians and civil servants.

Alongside Nicole, I met with Laurence Humphries-Davies of the British Society for Heart Failure. We discussed the need for early diagnosis to avoid hospitalisation. We also discussed how to raise the profile of the condition further amongst Parliamentarians and how we can get Government to focus on a condition that is one of the main health problems causing hospital admission.

Nicole is to be commended for her work. I very much look forward to continuing to work with her as we engage with decision makers here at Westminster, and indeed with our own Northern Ireland Department of Health.”
