Lockhart Praises Reopening of Captain Cook’s in Banbridge

Carla Lockhart MP • February 11, 2026

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has welcomed the reopening of Captain Cook’s, describing the revamped Banbridge eatery as a real boost for the local area.

After visiting the newly reopened premises, Ms Lockhart praised both the quality of the food and the investment made by the new owners.

Speaking following her visit, she said:

“It was really lovely to call in to the newly reopened and beautifully revamped Captain Cook’s. The décor is absolutely gorgeous, the food is superb, and the desserts, especially those made by our wee Frances, are a real highlight.

“I want to offer huge congratulations to George and Holly Dummigan on their new venture. They are certainly not shy of hard work or business, and it’s clear they are putting their heart and soul into making Captain Cook’s a massive success.”

Ms Lockhart also encouraged local people to support the business as it begins this new chapter.

“Independent businesses are the backbone of our town centres, and it’s great to see such care and effort being put into a local café and restaurant. I would strongly encourage everyone to give their page a like, pop in, and support them by enjoying some of their very tasty food.”
