Lockhart Praises Creativity at Gilford Primary School Scarecrow Competition
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has paid tribute to the pupils and staff of Gilford Primary School following a visit to judge the school’s scarecrow competition. Each class designed and built their own scarecrow for the school’s community garden, with entries reflecting a wonderful mix of imagination, colour, and fun.

Speaking after the visit, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“It was an absolute delight to join with Gilford Primary School for their scarecrow competition. The creativity and imagination shown by the pupils was simply fantastic, and every class produced something unique and full of character. It is such a great initiative that brings the school and community together in such a positive way.
Gilford Primary School is a lovely little school, right at the heart of the community, with a strong Christian ethos that shines through in everything they do. My sincere thanks go to Ms Williamson for the kind invitation, and to Principal Mrs Armstrong for her dedication and commitment to the children. The scarecrows were so good they would scare off more than just the birds!
Well done to all the boys and girls for their hard work and creativity. They should be very proud of what they have achieved.”
Mrs Lockhart was joined at the event by Councillor Paul Greenfield, who helped with the judging.
