Ms Lockhart visited Banbridge Fire Station where firefighters and volunteers were hosting a car wash in aid of charity. She commended the efforts of all involved and the generosity of those who came out to support the event.

Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was great to visit Banbridge Fire Station and see a fundraising car wash taking place. It was fantastic to see everyone getting behind such a good cause and there was a real sense of community spirit throughout the morning.

Events like this show the very best of our local communities, with people giving their time and effort to support others. There was great craic and, most importantly, vital funds were raised for charity.”

During her time out in the community, Ms Lockhart also visited Epworth Methodist Church to support the Edgarstown Residents Association Big Breakfast, where young people played a central role in organising, preparing and serving food.

“It was fantastic to see so many young people getting involved and taking ownership of the event. They are a credit to their community, and special thanks must go to everyone who helped organise such a successful morning,” she said.

Ms Lockhart also paid tribute to the organisers of a recent coffee afternoon at Killicomaine Community Jubilee Centre, held in memory of Lenny Robinson and in support of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

“This was a moving and meaningful event which brought people together in both sadness and solidarity. The Robinson family deserve great credit for organising such a wonderful occasion in memory of Leonard, while supporting a charity that provides vital help to families in their darkest moments,” she added.

Ms Lockhart said the events highlighted the strength, compassion and generosity of people across Upper Bann.

“I am always encouraged by the incredible community spirit we have locally. Whether it is fundraising, supporting one another or simply coming together, it is clear that our communities continue to look out for each other,” she said.
