Celebrating 90 Years of Hart Memorial Primary School

Carla Lockhart MP • October 22, 2025

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has paid tribute to the pupils, staff, and community of Hart Memorial Primary School, Portadown, following a special 90th Anniversary Service of Thanksgiving held in St Columba’s Church, Portadown.

Speaking after attending the event, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was a wonderful evening of thanksgiving for The Hart, a truly special celebration of 90 years of education, faith, and community. The children were absolutely fantastic, reading, singing, and taking part with such confidence and enthusiasm. Their participation made the service so meaningful.

I want to pay tribute to Mr Frizzell, the school principal, the dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff, and the Board of Governors for their leadership, care, and ongoing commitment to every child. The effort that went into making the evening such a success was evident in every detail. I was deeply touched by the lovely welcome and by the beautiful bouquet of flowers presented to me it really demonstrated such kindness and generosity.

What stood out most was the Christ-centred heart of the service. Hart Memorial is not just a school, it is a place where faith, values, and community spirit are instilled in every pupil. For nine decades, it has touched thousands of lives, shaping generations and serving as a cornerstone of the local community.

As the school looks ahead to its centenary, I wish everyone at Hart Memorial continued blessing and success in the years to come.”

Carla Lockhart was joined at the event by Lord Mayor Stephen Moutray, local clergy, and members of the school community.
