Carla Lockhart MP Praises Local Heroes Behind Outstanding Community Coffee Mornings
Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart, has paid tribute to local volunteers, families, and church communities who have gone above and beyond to raise vital funds for cancer support and mental health services through a series of recent charity coffee mornings across the constituency.

From Banbridge to Waringstown and Lurgan, residents once again demonstrated the generosity and solidarity that defines the local community, turning out in force to support much-loved causes.
Speaking following her attendance at several events, Carla Lockhart MP said:
“Over the past week, I have been reminded yet again of how incredibly compassionate and community-minded our people are. Whether it was Action Cancer’s Painting the Town Pink Coffee Morning in Banbridge, Jeannie and her amazing family’s Big Macmillan Coffee Morning, or the Well Kept Waringstown Coffee Morning at Waringstown Presbyterian Church, each one showcased the very best of local spirit.
Despite the awful weather, the turnout for Action Cancer’s event in Banbridge was remarkable. For ten years now, this group has been painting the town pink, and the dedication of the organisers, volunteers, and supporters is nothing short of inspirational.
Likewise, Jeannie and her family deserve enormous praise. Hosting their 24th Big Macmillan Coffee Morning, they have now raised nearly £25,000 to support those going through cancer treatment and recovery. That level of commitment across decades is truly humbling.
And in Waringstown, Presbyterian Church Hall was packed as always. Trevor Beatty and his brilliant team not only served coffee they serve the community all year round, keeping the village looking beautiful and welcoming. Their floral displays are the pride of Waringstown and admired by many.
For me, showing up to these events isn’t just about supporting good causes it’s about standing alongside the people who make this place what it is. I look forward to supporting many more.”
Carla Lockhart concluded by encouraging continued support for local fundraising efforts:
“Whether it’s fighting cancer, promoting mental health support or simply lifting spirits, these events make a real difference. Thank you to everyone who organises, donates, bakes, pours tea, or simply turns up. You are the heartbeat of our community.”
