Thousands Turn Out for Lisburns Apprentice Boys Parade A Celebration of Heritage and Culture

Carla Lockhart MP • April 23, 2025

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart has said Lisburn was alive with colour, music, and tradition on Easter Monday as thousands gathered to witness the annual Apprentice Boys Parade. Bands and brethren from across the country marched proudly through the city, creating a wonderful family atmosphere along the packed parade route. Among the many represented districts, Upper Bann stood tall, with a strong contingent of Apprentice Boys and bands from Banbridge, Lurgan, and Portadown.

Speaking after the event, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was an absolutely mighty day in Lisburn. The turnout was incredible, and the atmosphere along the entire route was first class. It was heartening to see so many people, families, friends, and supporters come together to celebrate culture, tradition, and community spirit.”

“I was particularly proud to see Upper Bann so well represented. There was a fantastic turnout of men from Banbridge, Lurgan, and Portadown, all taking part with great pride and dignity. As always, the Portadown Defenders Flute Band and Downshire Guiding Star Flute Band were sounding top notch and representing the area with distinction.”

“Events like this are not only a key part of our cultural calendar, but they also showcase the unity and strength of our community. It was a wonderful way to spend Easter Monday, and my thanks go to all those who took part, organised, and supported the day.”
