MP MEETS MUMS IN BUSINESS CO-ORDINATOR - LAURA BOND

Carla Lockhart MP • March 20, 2022

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart has met with “Mums in Business Co-Ordinator”, Laura Bond to discuss the exceptional efforts of the social media based group who work hard to assist mums on a journey to succeed in their own business.

Mums/Moms In Business International was founded by Leona Burton and are on a mission to be the, "Largest International Support, Education & Empowerment Network for Mums & Women In Business."

MIB International (MIB is shorthand for Mums/Moms/Mommas & Women In Business) is built around 4 key themes:

Support, Empowerment, Education, and  Networking

As a businesswoman and mum to 5, Leona was frustrated at the lack of support for mums in business. ‘There were plenty of networking opportunities, but none where children were welcome, and despite many mum and baby/toddler groups, none where she could also network, learn and grow the business’ Leona said.

Speaking following a very positive meeting with local co-ordinator Laura Bond from Donaghcloney who is responsible for the Banbridge, Lurgan, Dromore and Moira area, Carla Lockhart MP said, “I want to commend Laura for her vision and determination to help support mums in business.  As a mum and business woman herself she knows exactly the challenges.  She is endeavouring to empower women, knowledge share, and host events that are child friendly.  It is about creating a space for women to network and grown their businesses by gleaning from the experience of other women who are juggling what often can be two difficult roles.

I would encourage people who are interested to visit and join the local Facebook group at; https://www.facebook.com/groups/mibintnetworkingbanbridge/

I look forward to working with Laura as she seeks to grow this network.”
