Investment in Gilford on the way

Carla Lockhart MP • September 19, 2023

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has welcomed progress towards the delivery of a range of improvements in the village of Gilford. Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Council will lead on the project, delivered through a COVID Small Settlement Revitalisation Programme, with funding coming from DfI, DAERA and DfC.

Commenting, the DUP representative said:

“I am delighted that through the forthcoming COVID Small Settlement Revitalisation Scheme, we will see a range of improvements delivered in the village of Gilford. This has been something I have been working on for some time and it is fantastic that we now have a clear direction of travel towards investment being made.

This is very much a community led scheme and as such the Council will be undertaking a consultation exercise in Gilford. Anyone interested in discussing proposals or bringing forward ideas would be most welcome to drop in to Gilford Community Centre, on Tuesday 26th September 2023 from 2.00pm - 7.30pm. The Scheme presentation is at 2:30pm and 6:30pm.

Our rural villages must continue to see investment by Council and by central Government departments, to ensure rural dwellers have the best facilities and services, as well as attractive, tidy communities. I will continue to champion such investment and I look forward to the completion of this exciting programme for Gilford.”
