Flats at Chestnut Place, Banbridge Set for Demolition – Works to Begin January 2025

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has provided an update on the long-awaited demolition of the flats at Chestnut Place, Banbridge. Following delays, the project has now progressed to contract award stage, with enabling works by NIE Networks currently underway. Site works are scheduled to commence in early January 2025.
Commenting on the progress, Carla Lockhart said:
"This is a welcome step forward for an area in much need of redevelopment. While I understand the frustrations caused by delays, I am pleased to confirm that the scheme is now fully approved and on track to begin in January. This represents a fresh start for the area and will be a key milestone in improving the local environment for residents. I will continue to monitor progress closely to ensure work proceeds as planned. I along with colleagues have consistently advocated for this project to got ahead.”
